Deep End GP SSC

An SSC into Health Inequalities

‘Deep End’ is a growing movement of GPs working in the most deprived communities in the UK, and beyond. The movement’s aim is to reduce health inequalities through advocacy and education. Healthy life expectancy varies dramatically by area in the UK. In Sheffield, if you are a woman living at one end of the number 83 bus route you have a life expectancy almost 10 years lower than if you live at the other end in the more disadvantaged areas of the city. This Student Selected Component (SSC) will help students explore and understand the factors that contribute to these differences.
