2nd Grade Resources

The following services are accessible to students from their school iPads.

Students have access to productivity, collaboration, and publishing tools such as Google Drive, Docs, Slides, and Gmail. Students log in at google.com with their full district email address and password.

This online journal teaches students how to communicate with an audience as storytellers and digital citizens. Students login to Seesaw using their school email address and password. Once logged into the iPad app, students remain signed in. If needed at home, login instructions here.

Book Creator is a robust tool for making interactive, multimedia eBooks. A must-have for every family's storyteller. Students make their own books using text, drawings, photos, videos, and sound.

Epic has a vast digital collection of children's books and audio stories. Teachers provide students with a class access code. Students have free and unlimited access to the teacher's library during school hours (7am-4pm). Parents can register for a free Epic service to receive two additional hours of access each week, which includes weekends. The two extra hours resets every Monday.

Invite students to record a video reflection that allows them to develop their skills for reading with fluency, expression, and an awareness of audience. Students sign in with the iPad app and Class Code provided by teacher.

IXL is a personalized multi-disciplinary learning platform. The district has a subscription to its K-5 math activities. Students must log into this website using the iPad app or a browser and then entering the username/password provided by your teacher.

Great for teaching fundamental coding concepts. Ideal tool for parents and kids to work on together, although students can use it independently. Available as an iPad app or through a web browser. See teacher guide for an overview. Students will need to enter a Class Code, provided by the teachers. Students then select their school username from the class list on the screen.

Lexia Core 5 provides differentiated online literacy support for students in grades K-5. This tool is used with some students at the discretion and guidance of Edgewood's classroom teachers and teaching specialists in support of the district balanced literacy curriculum.

Raz-Kids is an online guided reading book featuring interactive books. Log into this website using the username and password provided by your teacher.

Students independently practice Math fact fluency with this online resource. Students sign in with their district username/password to work on teacher-assigned activities.

Students develop programming skills by using “block codes” to tell multimedia stories. This is not a cloud-based program. All projects are stored within the app on a chosen device, such as the school iPad.

Wixie is a fun, cloud-based drawing program available with an iPad/Android app or a web browser. Draw objects, create beautiful designs, add images and voice, or make slideshows. Go to scarsdale.wixie.com and at the Scarsdale Login Portal screen, each student enters his/her district username and password.

Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing tool. Students can launch the Zoom app from their iPad or using the browser or client software on a desktop or laptop computer.

Important Login Note: As of September 2021, students no longer need to login to Zoom. Students can access their teacher's meeting room by clicking on the teacher-provided Zoom link in Google Calendar.
