What is a Career Coach?

In a high school, the career coach is a unique resource dedicated to helping students discover and develop plans for their future. A Career Coach can help students with:

  • Career exploration and assessments

      • Mapping out a plan for the future – goal setting

      • Assistance with matching each student’s unique abilities and interests to a career that will compliment him/her

  • Work-based learning (WBL) opportunities

      • Job shadowing

      • Internships

      • Apprenticeships

  • Post-Secondary options

      • College exploration – ranging from certificate programs, associate’s degrees and beyond

      • Information about the Community College System and the programs offered

      • Military/Apprenticeships/Employment

  • NRCC and ACCE program information

      • Help students with all aspects of the NRCC and ACCE application process:

          • Administer required placement tests

          • Communicate deadlines and requirements for ACCE eligibility

  • Financial Aid assistance

      • Help with frequently asked questions, setting up FSA ID, FAFSA completion

      • Scholarship application assistance
