Enable Scientific Symposium 2018

Diana Samodova (UCPH), TEMPERA fellow, assisted in organizing the Enable Scientific Symposium in Copenhagen.

The 2nd European PhD and Postdoc symposium: The Promise of Future Medicine: From Research to Therapy Enable 2018 was held at the University of Copenhagen, Mærsk Tower from the 7th to the 9th of November 2018.

The symposium was organized by PhD students and postdocs from four international institutes, and about 300 participants have attended it.

The event included not only plenary and poster sessions for students, talks by senior scientists and international companies, but also outreach activitiesfor the general public: adults, kids and teenagers.

Within the framework of the symposium Diana Samodova was part og the local organizing committee (LOC). She was particularly responsible for the outreach events for preliminary school kids and high-school students. The outreach activities supervised by Diana included the laboratory activity for kids and the hands-on activity for teenagers.

The laboratory activity for children included extraction of genetic material (DNA) from biological samples. During the experimental hands-on activity for high school students, Diana gave a tutorial on the manual interpretation of De Novo sequencing of the unknown proteinMS-MS spectra and explained the potential areas of its application, including palaeoproteomics.
