3rd Grade

The Wild Robot

Mrs. Stock's class read The Wild Robot and came to the Makerspace to make their very own! We had such a great time!

3rd Grade Spheros

Kids first read the story "Stone Fox" as part of their Lucy Calkins' Unit of Study for Teaching Reading. Their teacher, Mrs. Zatt, then told them they would be making their own dog sleds and would be racing them to see whose sled would cross the finish line first and in tact. The cool part is they would be using Spheros (borrowed from DLC, Michelle Fournier, at New Hope Elementary) to "drive" their sleds.

They had a few parameters:

1. They only had 2 days to design, test, modify and race their sleds.

2. They could use on the materials provided from their teacher.

3. The Sphero could not be attached.

4. The sled had to hold a musher.

Designing, testing, and modifying in the classroom.
