What is AB 1719?

AB 1719 is a legislation that was authored by Assembly member Freddie Rodriguez. That seeks that CPR hands only in instructed in school, along with AED or Automated External Defibrillator awareness. This would be required to be taught in any high school course. The CPR taught to the students would have to meet the American Red Cross or American Heart Association standards. It can also be instructed by a program that is nationally recognized, and based on the most national evidence-based on emergency cardiovascular care guidelines. "CPR in schools not only empowers the youth of California, however it helps us add more lifesavers to our community."(American Red Cross) AB 1719 was put into play and is commencing within the 2018-19 school year. It requires that all 12 grade students at schools must know Hands-only CPR and have AED awareness.
