Percussion Supplies
Instruments: snare drum and glockenspiel / bells with drumsticks and mallets (get something like the kit pictured below that includes everything needed) - Here is an example of the percussion kit needed (pictured below). DON'T BUY ONE FROM AMAZON, EBAY, WALMART, COSTCO, ETC - THEY ARE TERRIBLE!
Music stand - to use at home for daily practice. Don't get the cheap, flimsy folding metal music stands - they are garbage. Here are a few suggestions - music stand 1, music stand 2, music stand 3. Your local music store will also have similar options.
Folder for storing sheet music - this could be a folder designed to hold music (a local music store may give you one for free) or just a regular pocket folder.
Snare Drum Practice Pad: Typically comes with the snare drum / bells kit. I recommend 8”, 10” or 12” sizes. Here are some recommended pads (you only need one):
Remo Practice Pad
Evans Realfeel 2-sided Practice Pad
Vic Firth 12" Double-Sided Practice Pad
Snare Drum Sticks: Vic Firth American Custom SD1 General Drum Sticks (recommended, but not required. Your drum kit will likely come with a pair of sticks included) Available at most music stores.
Glockenspiel Mallets: A pair of mallets will usually come with your percussion kit, but if you need another pair or want to upgrade, here are my recommendations:
Mike Balter 10R Resonator Bells Mallet
Innovative Percussion James Ross Glockenspiel / Xylophone Mallets IP902
Malletech Bob Becker Xylophone Mallet BB34
