Cello Supplies

Instrument: Dr. Wolfe will recommend an appropriate instrument size for your student and write it on the Recommended Supplies Form. Bring that form with you to the music store so they can help you get everything you need. Most students will be either 3/4 or 1/2 size. DON'T BUY ONE FROM AMAZON, EBAY, WALMART, COSTCO, ETC - THEY ARE TERRIBLE!

Rosin - Typically comes with the instrument, but if you want to upgrade or need another, I recommend D'Addario brand. Dark-colored rosin is generally preferred for cellos.

Music stand - to use at home for daily practice. Don't get the cheap, flimsy folding metal music stands - they are garbage. Here are a few suggestions - music stand 1, music stand 2, music stand 3.  Your local music store will also have similar options.

Folder for storing sheet music - this could be a folder designed to hold music (a local music store may give you one for free) or just a regular pocket folder.

Soft cloth for cleaning (microfiber works well)

Endpin stopper / anchor - to help hold the cello in place while playing (especially useful when playing on tile or wood floors). Get one that attaches to the leg of the chair with a strap.

Extra set of strings - Make sure you select the appropriate size for your instrument.

Chair with legs (not wheels) and without armrests (students feet should be able to touch the floor with legs at approximately 90-degree angle) for practicing at home.
