Appreciation of all art forms is the goal for the 7th and 8th grade art experience. This month we viewed the under-appreciated art form of Graffiti Art. Students viewed one of the most popular "Street Artists" Banksy, known for truly be "unknown" Banksy's works are viewed as a positive when his work graces the side of your building. One of the most intriguing current day artists, Banksy's identity has never been revealed, based in the UK this artist leads the way in social statements and creativity. Banksy's Street Art has been valued well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars and interestingly he goes unvalued by much of the population not having awareness. Please take a moment to view a prank Banksy conducted in Central Park a few years ago where his original works, valued at $20,000 per work, were sold unrecognized in Central Park in New York City for as low as $60.00

Although this is not Banksy seen in the video, this gentleman set up a street-side booth selling Banksy's original works.

As an appreciation in the genre of Street Art, 7th and 8th grade students created their own "tag". Students quickly learned the talent of those who can generate images with such speed, as well as, the ability to work in large scale and blend spray paints with such attention to detail. Enjoy a look at some of the amazing tags created by our talented students at HTCS!
