Services

Individual Counseling:

This mode of counseling provides the student a time to discuss a particular academic/social-emotional/career concern with their counselor. As School Counselors, we are able to provide brief solution-focused counseling. We are also able to refer students to our Mental Health Counselor if you feel your child would benefit from a more long-term counselor.

Group Counseling:

Personal/Social issues are often addressed during individual sessions, but there are times a group setting can help students learn to cope with the present issues and empathize with others. This setting is meant to be encouraging and supportive, offering a place to discuss hard things with students who are walking through the same experience. Parent permission is always required.

Classroom Guidance:

Classroom Guidance is a classroom lesson offered by school counselors. We teach the whole class about topics such as goal setting, time management, healthy peer relationships, how to handle conflict and much more. We will be updating this site when we have planned the dates and times for the classroom lessons.

Individual Planning:

In 8th grade, students will conduct their Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) conference. Students will discuss academic progress, along with high school and postsecondary plans. Prior to this conference, students will take a career assessment and will create an academic goal to help guide their planning.

Consultation:

Our counselors consult with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to address students’ academic, personal/social, and career needs. As consultants, counselors educate staff and parents on issues relevant to middle school students, meet with teachers to provide information about how best to help students experiencing academic and emotional problems, and work directly with teachers, parents, and administrators, and others to best meet the needs of the students. Consultation may take place in an individual or group conference, team meetings, staff development activities, and/or parent education workshops.

Collaboration with the community:

School counselors serve as liaisons between schools and community agencies. Businesses and community agencies play a vital role as service providers for students and their families.
