FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When will I see my grades posted on PowerSchool? I update PowerSchool on Fridays. It typically takes me 5 school days to grade an assignment. Longer and more detailed assignments (like projects) will take me longer to grade. I want to be able to give you detailed, quality feedback. For example, if you turn a project in on Wednesday, it is highly unlikely you will see its grade in PowerSchool on Friday.
  2. What do the codes in PowerSchool mean?
    • Belo50 - You scored below a 50 on that assignment.
    • INC - You didn't complete the assignment ("incomplete"), and therefore, it is counted as a "50".
    • NHI - You didn't turn in the assignment on time ("Not Handed In").
    • EXC - You are excused from this assignment. This is a very rare occurrence. If you miss an assignment due to an absent, you are typically not excused from it. However, if you are excused from it, you do not have to make it up, and the grade is not counted against you.
  3. I'm a parent of one of your students. Will you email me regular updates on my child's progress in your class? I will respond to your emails requesting information on your child, but I do not send regular emails to individual parents unless I have a specific concern about their child's performance in my class. I try to encourage all my students to take responsibility for their learning, and I try to foster independence. I encourage both parents and students to regularly check grades in PowerSchool. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have a question or concern.
  4. I'm having trouble in class. When are you available outside of class to help me? We have Advisory every day, so in all likelihood, I'll be able to help you then if you sign up in advance. If not, we can try to work out an alternative.
  5. Do you give extra credit? No. Please focus on all of the regular credit and give your best effort in class.
  6. Can I follow you on social media? No. When you graduate from high school you can follow me. I will only follow/friend former students, not current students.
  7. I have a question that isn't answered on this page. How do I get in touch with you to have my question/concern addressed? Please contact me. I'd be happy to answer your questions, or point you in the direction of someone who can.
