Meet

Mrs. Sanders

Hello! I am so excited to be working with you all this school year! My name is Mrs. Sanders. There are two Mrs. Sanders at Sue Cleveland this year. I often sign as Mrs. LM Sanders. You may also see me as Mrs. Ly. Sanders or Mrs. L. Sanders.

I am highly qualified to teach PreK through 6th grade in the state of South Carolina. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Lynchburg College in 2005. Previously, I taught 6th grade US History 1865-present and 6th Grade Life Science at Forest Middle School in Virginia. I taught there for 8 years and absolutely loved it! I was a long-term substitute in Greenville County for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years. I had the opportunity to sub for Mrs. Sanders who was in 4th grade during the 2016-2017 school year. This is my seventh full year teaching at Sue Cleveland. I taught 5th grade for two years and this will be my fifth year in 4th grade here. I am so excited to be here!!

I was born and raised in North Carolina. I am a big fan of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tar Heels! I lived in Virginia for 15 years. I met my husband, Mark, after college and we have been happily married for 16 years this September. We have a 9 year old daughter, Hannah. She is the light of our lives! She is in fourth grade this year and attends Sue Cleveland, so you will be sure to hear of her adventures. We also have a 5 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback and American Foxhound mix named Daisy. She is a sweetheart, but a little shy around big groups of people. While getting all the cuddles I can, I enjoy reading and any history I can get my hands on. I also like to watch Survivor, Dancing with the Stars (while my daughter and I "ballroom dance"), Finding Your Roots, and Master Chef Jr. with Gordon Ramsey.

Family is very important to me! When I get the chance, I go to Virginia to see my mom, three younger sisters, and my 3 nieces and youngest nephew. My husband's family is here in Greenville and I get to see them often.

I feel teaching is my calling and a blessing to me. I enjoy learning with my students as they learn and grow. I'm looking forward to a great year with y'all!

These are a few of my favorite things...

If you're ever trying to think of a gift, I always love pictures and notes from my students! I know some families don't have the ability to spend extra money. I don't have a ton of extra money myself, but I try to find little special things that I can share. Some of my most treasured teacher gifts came from the heart. I still have a CD one of my students made for me and several notes and pictures. For me, it's all about the thought that went into it. I used to make teacher gifts at Christmas using a toilet paper roll filled with candy that teacher liked and then wrapped with pretty paper with ribbon on each end to close it off. I could find everything at the dollar store (another favorite shopping place).
