Recorders

Fourth and Fifth grade students will be learning to play the Recorder. The Recorder is a woodwind instrument developed during the Baroque period. This instrument is ideal for teaching fundamental skills in embouchure, the fingering of keys, articulation and breath control. Students will also learn to apply beginning music reading skills such as lines vs. space, the treble staff, note values, corresponding rests and more.

We do have recorders available her at the school for student use. However, If a Student wants to bring their own recorder it is permissible. Any student bringing their own instrument to school is responsible for that instrument and it's care.

If you are interested in purchasing a recorder I recommend purchasing a recorder from a trusted music store in our area.

Two trusted music stores that carry recorders are Pecknel Music on Pleasantburg Rd. across from Bob Jones University. The second music store Musical Innovations is located conveniently here in Mauldin on Tanner Rd. near the CVS. You may also choose to order one online. Music K8 Plank Road publishing and West Music are also great choices.
