About Me

Born in South Africa, I immigrated to the United States to pursue graduate work at Clemson University in the mid-80s. An American citizen since 1993, I have called Greenville home for 35 years.

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and my love of learning and of seeing young people find excitement in the classroom has remained a constant in my life. I consider teaching to be one of the most important careers and admire every teacher who chooses this as his/her profession. I enjoy reading, hiking, time in nature, travelling, good film and theater, food that nourishes body and soul, a good cup of tea (hot!), and time with family and friends.

Although I have been the recipient of several meritorious teaching awards, my most celebrated moments are undoubtedly the life and academic successes of my former students.

I am delighted to be part of the Alternative Programs of Greenville County Schools, which marry all my core beliefs: that young people are our hope and future; that we need to educate the whole child, not just their mind; that, given a structured, supportive environment, students will flourish and succeed.

"The question is not whether we can afford to invest in every child; it is whether we can afford not to." Marian Wright Edelman
