Supported Employment Training

The ultimate goal of this training program is to ensure that each student learns the skills they need to be as independent as possible at a paid or volunteer job in the community that aligns with their interests and talents.

The Supported Employment Training program is vital to the long-term success of our students in the Greer High Transition Program. First, we assess each student to determine their abilities and interests. Local businesses are involved in the process by serving as training sites for our students. While working together with peer tutors at the various training sites each week, the students learn employment skills that will help them gain real-world job experience. Mrs. Barnett works together with supervisors and other employees to discover creative ways to accommodate the unique needs and abilities of each student. Open communication is critical in allowing Mrs. Barnett and the employers to provide ongoing support.
