How to Earn the Diploma
The IB Diploma is awarded based on performance across all parts of the Diploma Program. The IB Diploma will be awarded to a candidate who meets all the following requirements:
The candidate has completed all assessment components for each of the six subjects.
The candidate's overall point total from subject grades and TOK/EE is at least 24 points.
CAS Requirements have been met.
There is no "N" awarded for Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, or a contributing subject.
There is no grade "E" awarded for Theory of Knowledge or the Extended Essay.
There is no grade of "1" awarded in any subject.
There are no more than two grades of "2" awarded (SL or HL).
There are no more than 3 grades of 3 or below awarded (SL or HL).
The candidate has gained at least 12 points on HL subjects. For candidates who register for four HL subjects, the three highest grades count.
The candidate has gained at least 9 points on SL subjects. Candidates who register for two SL subjects must gain at least 5 points at SL.
The candidate has not received a penalty for academic misconduct from the Final Award Committee.
