How to Earn the Diploma


The IB Diploma is awarded based on performance across all parts of the Diploma Program. The IB Diploma will be awarded to a candidate who meets all the following requirements:

        • The candidate has completed all assessment components for each of the six subjects.

        • The candidate's overall point total from subject grades and TOK/EE is at least 24 points.

        • CAS Requirements have been met.

        • There is no "N" awarded for Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, or a contributing subject.

        • There is no grade "E" awarded for Theory of Knowledge or the Extended Essay.

        • There is no grade of "1" awarded in any subject.

        • There are no more than two grades of "2" awarded (SL or HL).

        • There are no more than 3 grades of 3 or below awarded (SL or HL).

        • The candidate has gained at least 12 points on HL subjects. For candidates who register for four HL subjects, the three highest grades count.

        • The candidate has gained at least 9 points on SL subjects. Candidates who register for two SL subjects must gain at least 5 points at SL.

        • The candidate has not received a penalty for academic misconduct from the Final Award Committee.
