Mary H. Smith has over 38 years of experience in education as a teacher, media specialist, ADEPT Evaluator, and IB/AP Coordinator and School Testing Coordinator for a number of tests. She has also completed the Greenville County Schools Instructional Coach Institute. Throughout her career, she has had experience with students ranging from Pre-K to Grade 12, including various career centers, group homes, and special programs. As a result of these experiences and her specific interest in curriculum and instruction, she brings a unique perspective to the IB program and the belief that all students can achieve the highest success if they are exposed to great teaching and given the appropriate tools.

Ms. Nicole Corrado has been teaching at Greer High School since 2016 and is in her 2nd year teaching IB Spanish. She grew up in New York State and attended the State University of New York at Oneonta where she received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Spanish. She is currently studying at Clemson University to receive her ESOL add-on certification. In her free time, Ms. Corrado enjoys being outdoors with her two dogs and traveling. She is looking forward to the new IB Spanish curriculum and all of the great things that the IB program does for her students!

Between her schooling, Miss Gregg worked in several regional theaters across the country as a costume designer, actor, and director. She currently lives in Spartanburg with her dogs, Banjo and Caesar. When she is not chasing them all over town, she likes to spend her free time reading, shopping, traveling, and teaching private acting lessons. She is so excited to continue the theatre program here at GHS this year.

Voices of Greer High School

Stephen Gunter has over 12 years of experience in education as a teacher, coaching teacher, clinician, adjudicator, and District Honor Choir Coordinator. His approach to music is centered around each individual student. He believes that a strong music program rests upon the skills and training of the individual first, who then applies their knowledge to the group. This philosophy enables him to work with a wide variety of skill sets and experience levels. He is also a published co-author through GIA.

Coach Landreth served as the head baseball coach at Greer High School for the past 3 years and has been the Director of Speed and Strength at Greer for the past 2 years. Prior to serving at Greer, Coach Landreth began his coaching career as an undergraduate at Lander University coaching baseball. While at East Tennesee State University, he served as an assistant baseball coach. In 2013, East Tennessee won the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the school's first since 1981. They then played in the Vanderbilt Regional as part of the College World Series. From 2014 - 2016, Coach Landreth served as head baseball coach at North Bumcombe High School in Weaverville, NC and was department chair of the Physical Education department from 2015 - 2016.

Coach Landreth loves helping athletes increase their athletic performance ceiling by way of strength and conditioning aspects and he loves learning new things. He enjoys being in the weight room and reading about new sport performance enhancement techniques. He is excited about teaching the new IB Sports, Exercise & Health Science course! He has been married to his wife, Carla, for 12 years and has a 1 year old son, Declan. Declan is a handful and already into everything. Watch out for him in the 2036 Olympic Games!!

Lori Martin has been a Language Arts teacher for over 27 years. She and her husband relocated from Jupiter, Florida to the Upstate fourteen years ago. They enjoy hiking, golfing, and gardening in our spare time.

She is available most mornings for student make up work, tutoring, and student/parent meetings, except for Wednesdays and Thursdays. She encourages students to come to her classroom in the mornings for quiet study time and tutoring, if needed.

In addition to Mrs. McVicker's many certifications, she is also involved in Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional teachers organization. She is also the math department team leader here at Greer High School.

Mrs. McVicker has been teaching for 18 years. This is her 13th year at Greer High School, She previously taught for 5 years at Landrum High School. She is married and has 6 furry cat children: Leia, Tristan, Zowie, Blondie, Rowan , and Rhea. She and her husband also have 3 furry bunnies named Absolem, Alice, and George. She loves teaching math and loves animals as you can see from her number of furry children.

Mr. Nye has been teaching Biology at Greer High School for two years as a member of the GATE program. He graduated from the Missouri University of Science and Technology with a degree in Biology before completing a Master's degree in Biology at the University of South Alabama. While completing his Master's degree, he taught Biology labs and conducted freshwater ecology research in the Mobile Delta. Mr. Nye is excited to be teaching IB Biology and is looking forward to creating a more hands-on Biology class. In his free time, Mr. Nye can be found traveling across the county playing disc golf.

Mr. Parker has been teaching art for 25 years. He taught 12 years in North Carolina and 13 years in South Carolina. He loves painting as well as creating many different kinds of art. His art often reflects his love of Christian influenced art and anything to do with the Middle Ages. He loves reading medieval history and is a bit of a news junkie.

This is Mr. Perry's 23rd year of teaching. He began his career in the greater Charlotte area of North Carolina. He is extremely excited to be in the Greer and Greenville area with my family, as we have fallen in love with the community. His wife Jennifer is a science teacher at Maudlin Middle School and he has two children, Emma and Jake. As a family they love to hike, bike and kayak and are currently trying to achieve the Ultimate Outsider Award by attending all 47 of the South Carolina State Parks. His other passion is soccer, as he has been a high school coach in North Carolina for twenty years and looks forward to continuing that at Greer as the women's varsity soccer coach. Mr. Perry is also an avid college football fan and since his father graduated from Alabama during the Bear Bryant era, it always has been and will be ROLL TIDE!!!!!!

Mrs. Pruitt has taught all of the core content areas within the Social Studies Department allowing her to further developed her knowledge and love of the subject areas.

Her theory on education is that is should be an enjoyable process which includes a variety of aspects. Students should take responsibility for their own learning, but at the same time be provided with a secure learning environment. Learning history should be an interactive process where all learners are taking part in the experience. Students should be motivated to learn and succeed, which is what she feels is her main goal as a teacher. She wants every student that comes into her classroom to feel that they have had every opportunity to strive to be their best and have succeeded with her help. She is always available for extra study sessions if students need it before or after school most days.

Madame Simon's teaching career began in Haiti, 1982, where she taught French and English as a second language. After obtaining her Master's degrees, she taught French at Southwestern Michigan Community College and Western Michigan University for 4 years. During the subsequent four years, she assumed the position of ESL and French teacher at Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, Florida. Since Fall 1997, she has been a French teacher in the Greenville County School District (Beck Academy for nine years, Blue Ridge High School for five years, and Greer High School since 2006). She loves bringing the French speaking world to her students.

Ms. Turkenburg graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High School in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. After high school I attended Palm Beach Community College on a softball scholarship. She graduated with an Associates Degree in General Education and continued her education at Limestone College on both a soccer and softball scholarship. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education.

Her first teaching job was teaching elementary physical education in Massachusetts. She moved back to South Carolina to teach high school physical education for four years in Spartanburg County. Twenty years ago, she came to Greer High School to teach science and has taught a variety of science classes over the years but for the last several years she has taught Physics. She enjoys teaching Physics and love finding ways to make it fun.

She has completed three classes in Project Based Learning at Furman University and is certified as a PBL teacher as a result. This certification trains teachers on ways of providing more hands on opportunities for students.

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Mr. Whitlock teaches Spanish at Greer High School. He graduated from Dorman High School in the year 2006 and graduated from Presbyterian College in 2010 with a major in Spanish and a minor in Secondary Education. I also graduated from North Greenville University in 2013 with a Masters of Education. This school year is my 10th year teaching. He married in the summer of 2015 to his wife Alex. They have one dog and three cats, which all act like dogs! They love to travel, go out to eat, and watch movies and their favorite TV shows. Mr. Whitlock and his wife are also the proud parent of a beautiful son, Emmett.
