Honors and CP Biology Syllabi

Course Description

This course will expose students to the basic characteristics of all living organisms, a standardized way of performing research using the scientific method, a chemistry overview, genetics, ecology, and the different organ systems, of the human body.

Course Content: South Carolina Standards

The objectives of this course are to allow students to become familiar with the many aspects of both nature and the human body. The students will learn how biologists complete the research process and how to design experiments on their own. Students are expected to learn through lecture, demonstrations, classroom discussions, and independent study so that they will be ready to succeed in all walks of life after high school. Papers and projects will be completed to help students discover answers to various biology-related problems.

Students will be assessed using homework, quizzes, papers, lab work, class work, projects, and tests. The grades for each section will be averaged utilizing a point system, which I will explain during the first two weeks of school.

Major tests and projects/papers will count 60% of your grade each quarter.

Homework will count 10%.

Quizzes, labs, and class work will count 30%
