Comprehensive Program

What Does Ms. Blume Do

"What does your school counselor do?" The more important question is, "How are students different as a result of what your school counselor does?" Research in the area of school counseling indicates students benefit from improved attendance, reduced office referrals, better grades, increased knowledge regarding post secondary options, improved interpersonal skills and many other indicators.

  • Your school's counseling program is a collaborative effort between and benefiting students, parents, teachers, administrators and the overall community. It is an integral part of students' daily educational environment, and your school counselor is a partner in AJW student achievement. The program is developed from a standards based, data driven model that was created by The American School Counselor Association (ASCA), ASCA National Model®, which is a framework for a comprehensive school counseling program. Greenville County School district and AJW are adapting this model to fit our student needs and want to work collaboratively with you to ensure it is a fit.

  • There are three domains your School Counselor will be working with students in:
    • Personal/Social
    • Career
    • Academics

Students K-5th grade will be served in these areas through school wide events, classroom lessons, small groups, 1:1 etc. The counselor will be collaborating with the teachers in order to ensure individual and class needs are addressed.
