AP® Art History

Welcome to AP Art History!

This course will give you an in-depth look into art from all time periods and all parts of our world. You will become especially familiar with "The 250"--a set of images you WILL need to know to be successful on the APAH exam in May. However, I hope you will not just approach this course academically, but will seek to gain a mature perspective of art and its applications to the world around you, and become a better human being through your study of art.

Assignments are posted on my Google Classroom for AP Art History. You will need to join my classroom to view and complete assignments.

MyAP Classroom code: I will post this at the beginning of 2nd semester.

Summer Assignment:

Make a required images notebook by following these directions.

1) Go to the College Board website and look up the list of required AP Art History images*--there are 250 total, some with multiple views. You may also go to the Smarthistory link below to see a full list with links.

2) Print a roughly 4 x 6 in. size photo of each image. Black and white is fine. You can print multiples on a sheet and print them that way to save on printing cost. Then, cut them out and follow the next steps. These will basically be flashcards to help you study.

3) Attach each printed photo to a single sheet of notebook paper or printer paper.

4) Underneath (or on the back of) each image, write (or type) all available identifiers: title, artist or culture who produced it, materials used, date/date range of creation, where it is now located, where it was originally created, etc.

Example: Self-Portrait with Saskia, Rembrandt van Rijn, etching, 1636 C.E. (Common Era)

5) Three-hole-punch each page.

6) Print divider sheets for each Content Area--use this form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hxhqa4C9JxYaJlzVO2qTtvbPh-eHIWYF/view?usp=sharing Let me know if the link doesn't work.

7) Place the image pages in a loose-leaf notebook/folder, arranged by the Content Area dividers. You may want to do a separate small notebook for each Content Area. You can decide what works best for you.

8) Bring this notebook with you the first week of class--this notebook will be a major grade for completion. We will have a few days to work on it that first week, but don't save it all to do that week--it's a lot of work!

Please, click on the below link for the entire list of required 250 APAH images. You WILL be accountable for these images on the APAH Exam.
