About Me

Welcome to Ms. Jackson's 'About Me' Page!

Me hanging out with my two boys this past spring!

Professional Life

I have wanted to be a teacher for pretty much all of my life, and have a passion for helping people to learn! I started by tutoring students a few years younger than myself when I was in elementary school... and never really stopped. As an elementary and high school student, I continued to take courses and participate in extra-curricular activities that allowed me to take on a teaching role.

I went to York University to study my favourite subjects of English and History, and after completing an honours B.A., I continued my studies at York by enrolling in their teacher education program. I graduated with my B.Ed. in Junior/Intermediate English in 2007.

I then moved to PEI, where I worked as a substitute and term teacher. I taught a variety of subjects for five years, before moving back to Ontario, and working as a substitute teacher. I moved to the South Shore of Nova Scotia in 2017, and have worked here as both a substitute and term teacher.

I am currently enrolled in Acadia University's Master of Inclusive Education program, to further my passion of life-long learning, and to improve my ability to reach all of the diverse learners I encounter.

Personal Life

For those who wish to know a little more about me outside of a professional capacity, here are the basic details.

I was born and raised in a rural community just north of Toronto, in the GTA area of Ontario. I met and married my fabulous husband in Ontario, where we lived for a few years before moving to Charlottetown, PEI. We lived in PEI for five years, where our two sons, Iain and Nolan were born. We then moved back to Ontario for another 3 years, before finally settling on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, where my husband is from. We love it here, and have no further plans to move!
