Procedures

Lunch: Kindergartners eat lunch in the cafeteria every full day of school. Lunch can be purchased at school, and white or chocolate milk is included. Milk, fruit and snacks can be bought separately.

Snack: A light snack and a drink should be sent to school each day. If you send your child with yogurt, pudding or a fruit cup, please pack a spoon. In order to not confuse your child about what food items are meant for lunch and which are meant for snack, please pack your child's snack separately from their lunch.

****Due to the prevalence of food allergies, snacks containing peanuts and nut products are not permitted in the classroom. Your child is free to enjoy these foods in the cafeteria as part of his/her lunch.

Water Bottle: Please send one in daily. To avoid confusion, please clearly label it with your child's name.

Birthdays are very important events in a child's life. When it is your child's birthday, we will celebrate with a special little gift from the class. Due to new food guidelines, we are unable to celebrate with cupcakes, or other birthday treats. Also, please do NOT send party invitations to be distributed at school unless every child in the class is invited. In June, we will find days to celebrate all summer birthdays.

Dismissal: We expect that children will either ride the bus home or attend DEDA, each day. If there should be a change in your child's dismissal plans such as they are not attending DEDA on their regular day, or if they need to be dismissed during the day for a medical appointment, please send a note that morning in the GO Binder. Last minute changes should NEVER be sent via email as I may not have time to check email while school is in session. Instead, please contact the front office and they will notify me of any changes. Since the office is a busy place, especially at dismissal, please make every effort to get dismissal notes in the GO Binder each morning.
