Homework
It is expected that your child will spend some time (15 - 20 minutes) each day reading aloud or being read to at home. Your child can read aloud or picture read to you and/or you can read aloud to your child.
Remember, reading consists of two parts: decoding (the reading aloud part) and comprehension. The best way to develop comprehension is to engage your child in meaningful conversation regarding what has been read.
Some discussion starters include:
What do you think will happen next?
Why do you think the author named the character _____________?
Why do you think the character said that/behaved that way?
What would you do in this situation?
