Match Closure Policy

It is the policy of Big Brothers Big Sisters that all Volunteers and Young People must participate, where possible, in closure procedures when their match ends. Closure is defined as the cessation of regular contact between a Volunteer and Young Person.

Future contact will be at the mutual and informal agreement of the Volunteer, the Young Person and Parent/Caregiver. As part of the match closure process, it will be clearly communicated to all parties that if future contact is agreed upon, Big Brothers Big Sisters will not be responsible for monitoring and supporting the match and will not be liable for any incidents that may occur after the match closure process is completed.

The Match Closure sections of the Service Delivery Manuals will detail the Match Closure Procedure.

The Matching Policy defines what should happen following a closure of a match where a Volunteer or Young Person wishes to be re-matched. Exit interviews will be offered to all Volunteers, Young People and Parents/Caregivers.
