Digital Citizenship

Being a good digital citizen is more than knowing your way around the web. It's about connecting and collaborating in ways you didn't even know were possible. By teaching digital citizenship to your student, we are helping to create a positive school culture that safe and responsible technology use. This is a crucial first step in the digital integration process.

  • Young people interact with technology both during and after the oversight of a teacher or guardian. They embrace technology every day without thinking of the consequence of their online activity. Therefore, it is necessary to teach them digital citizenship.
  • Research and Analysis is an important aspect of Digital Citizenship. There are innumerable resources available over the Internet, but not all are authentic. Digital citizenship teaches students how to review and select information and how to differentiate between real and authentic sources of information vs false or unreliable ones.
  • Cyber-bullying is another reason for teaching digital citizenship. We can only prevent cyber-bullying by educating students about it. Lack of awareness about digital citizenship can lead to the cyber-bullying which can lead to grave consequences.
  • It is now a mainstream practice for future academia and employers to review the social media profiles of their prospective students or employees. It is important to teach students how to create online personas that project a positive image.
