2. Digital Literacy:

Information systems, both printed and digital, are the centers of intellectual, academic, social, and cultural life.

Not all information is valid, reliable, relevant, or appropriate.

How do I know if information gathered is credible?

What digital resources are available?

How are sources accurately recorded?

What are the different search tools and why are the relevant?

What are keywords and how do they help quickly locate the information I am looking for?

LESSON OBJECTIVES

  • Students will be able to navigate the digital world sharing ideas, and creating original authentic content to be consumed by the world.
  • Students will be able to use the computer/technologies in a way that shows respect and responsibility for decisions related to technology and the laws that govern technology use.
  • Students will develop high standards for personal conduct and ethical decision-making.
  • Students will learn to protect themselves and their private information when engaging with technology.

2. Digital Literacy:

  • Evaluate websites
  • Identify websites that are biased
  • Assess the importance of Wikipedia as a reference tool
  • Describe different sources of information and analyze their use (Twitter, RSS Feeds, Social Bookmarking)
  • Use information responsibly, citing sources and avoiding plagiarism
