2013-03-02,

Welcome new scouts! Troop 271 is very happy to have you join us. We are a very active group, and there are lots of activities to keep your boys interested. Each year the boys select a summer camp to attend. This year’s outing will be at Camp Whitsett, a Boy Scout Camp in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, twenty-seven miles north of Kernville. So far, twenty-three boys from Troop 271 have signed on to go from July 14-20. Camp Whitsett provides a safe, well supervised environment for our boys. It has excellent facilities, and a five-acre lake provides an opportunity for kayaking, swimming, canoeing, and fishing. The camp offers over twenty traditional merit badges for all ages of scouts. We will be discussing Camp Whitsett at our next scout meeting, Tuesday March 5. If you would like to check out their web site, I encourage you to go to http://www.campwhitsett.org/home-page/.

The estimated cost of camp is $450.

Thanks!

Alan Turken, ASM and Summer Camp Coordinator
