Health Education:

Health Education is a required semester long course you need to pass in order to graduate from Wilson High School. If you DO NOT successfully pass the course, you will be required to retake the course another semester or virtually. Instructional units taught in the course are as follows:

    • Understanding Wellness

    • Stress Managment

    • Mental Health

    • Nutrition

    • Non-communicable Diseases

    • Drugs and Alcohol Awareness

    • Reproductive Health

Required to have in class on a daily basis -

    1. Wilson School District issued Chromebook

Student Expectations -

    1. Get to class on time - this means you are in the classroom and have all required materials and assignments with you before the bell rings. If you are going to be late due to any legitimate reason, please have your school issued passbook signed by the secretary, principal, assistant principal, teacher, or support staff.

Consequences:

Late 1, 2, or 3 = Warning

Late 4, 5, or 6 = 1 Unit Teacher Assigned Detention

Late 7, 8, or 9 = 2 Unit Teacher Assigned Detention/Parent Communication

Late 10 or + = Referral to Assistant Principal

    1. Be responsible for your education - this means you need to come to class prepared to learn. Please complete all of the required work on time and to the best of your ability. Please remember it takes less time to do the correct thing the first time. If you need help, I am hear to support you in any way that I can.

Consequence:Students who fail to achieve a passing grade in Health Education don’t complete the required course work. This course is designed for you to complete work within the time frame that we meet daily. Please use the time allotted to you effectively. Remember, you control your own grade and will be given the grade that you earned. Progress reports will be emailed home to your parents throughout the semester through the Skyward Management System.

    1. Cooperate and follow directions - this means you need to please demonstrate respect for yourself, classmates, and teacher. Please actively participate in all our activities, assignments, assessments, and class on a daily basis. No food is allowed in class, however, water bottles are allowed. Finally, ELECTRONIC DEVICES may only be used when directed by the teacher.

Consequences:

1st Offense = Warning

2nd Offense = 1 Unit Teacher Assigned Detention

3rd Offense = 2 Unit Teacher Assigned Detention/Parent Communication

4th Offense = Referral to Assistant Principal

Weighted -

40% - Formative Assessments

60% - Summative Assessments

Grades will be posted in Skyward in a timely manner for you to view and progress reports will be emailed home to keep you and your parents aware of your progress.
