Spectroscope Lab

You will be using the document linked below to perform today's lab.

You will need: a 1/2 sheet of paper numbered 1-8. You are going to go to the different stations and identify the gases in the tubes using the spectroscope. You will label the stations with the gases listed in the table.

Rubric:

A= complete analysis(found out what they all are) and complete participation

F= incomplete analysis, not working diligently, having to be reminded to work

Conclusion:

After identifying the gases you will need to write a conclusion on your 1/2 sheet of paper. Your conclusion is simply an answer to this question, "How do astronomers determine the composition of a star?".

Rubric for grading:

A= 3-5 sentences - correct technique on finding the composition

B= less than 3 sentences - correct technique

C= less than 3 sentences - incorrect technique

F= no attempt
