STEAM Day

The Scarsdale STEAM day organizers have invited the Einstein neuroscience department to participate in their event. The event is taking place on Saturday April 21st 2018 from 11am to 4pm. Their program can be found here. They have over 1000 people in attendance ranging from elementary through high school students plus parents. This is a great opportunity for us to engage the public about neuroscience.

As a department, we are leading 8 stations. 5 of these stations focus on Backyard Brain demos where we can take the audience through difference stages of neuronal processing, from the electrical activity to the action of the muscle, and even human-human interface (https://backyardbrains.com/products/HHI)! The other stations include a brain anatomy dissection, the visual system function with optical illusions, and children sensory discrimination games! In addition, we are engaging with the audience around the giant inflatable brain and host a Q&A session about prominent research the department is engaged with, such as addiction and TBI.

We are excited to be a part of this event and hope to continue this involvement in future years.
