AP Calculus AB
**2021-2022 Calculus Students - The Summer Assignment is attached at the bottom of this page**
Welcome
This is a college-level calculus course designed to meet the Advanced Placement curricular requirements for Calculus AB (equivalent to a one-semester college course). The major topics of this course are limits, derivatives, integrals, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. We will investigate and analyze course topics using equations, graphs, tables, and words, with a particular emphasis on a conceptual understanding of calculus. Applications, in particular to solid geometry and physics, will be studied where appropriate.
Materials
Students using printed materials are suggested to have a 3-ring binder or at least three 2-pocket folders with prongs to organize their notes and materials if they choose to use printed materials.
Students MUST have an appropriate graphing calculator in class each day. It is imperative that students use the same calculator throughout the year to be familiar with its functionality for the AP exam. A TI-84 or equivalent calculator is strongly recommended. There are less expensive calculators on the market, but realize that many are less user-friendly. A list of approved calculators is available on the AP Calculus AB Course Homepage.
In addition to the supplies required for all classes (paper, pencil, highlighter), students must also have the following in class each day:
graph paper
dry erase marker
