Post date: Oct 31, 2014 12:52:9 AM

Attendance: 7

1. Opening: Michelle Stanzione called the meeting to order at 6:39.

2. Events/Fundraisers:

  • Michelle Stanzione reported that the Fall fundraiser generated $9108 in sales for a net profit of $4325. One check bounced.

  • · Movie Night is scheduled for Friday, November 7th at 6:30. The students will choose the movie from a few pre-selected movies. Michelle already has some water donations but will need popcorn donations and volunteers to help clean up.

  • · The Bake Sale will take place on Tuesday, November 4th – Election Day. Volunteers will be needed to provide baked goods and work the sale. Baked goods can be dropped off at school the day before. Michelle will send out flyers.

  • · The Book Fair is taking place this week (October 14 – 17th). We have some new parent volunteers.

  • · The Holiday Shop will take place the second week in December. We have roughly 300 items left over from last year and Mrs. Fortunato is making 100 items to donate. We will need to budget $3000 to purchase items. There was discussion as to where to have the shop. It would be difficult to have in the gym due to dismissal procedures. Mrs. Schork suggested using the empty room downstairs.

  • The PTO hopes to continue provide birthday books for the students which may be challenging due to the increased enrollment. We used scholastic dollars to purchase some additional books. Mr. Krafick suggested contacting Read to Grow.

3. Treasurer's Report:

  • Stephanie Trzyna reported that the PTO has $14,084.90 in the bank. The PTO has budgeted $4200 for the field trip buses. Each class will receive $15o towards the cost of buses for the year. The 5th grade budget is $1500, which is the same as last year.

4. New Business:

    • Mrs. Froehlich, the new webmaster at Park Avenue School, showed the updated website. She will post updates for the PTO. She will remove the personal email addresses from the site and only include the parkavepto82@gmail.com. She will add the policy regarding the "Parent's Right to Know" about the professional qualifications of the staff at Park Avenue School.

    • Mr. Krafick would like to bring programs into the school. South Street School has had the Maritime Center and Beardsley Zoo bring touch tanks/animals to the school for the students. We would need to evaluate the budget.

Closing: The next meeting will be Tuesday, November 18th at 6:30 because there is no school on the second Tuesday in November. Meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm.

Respectfully submitted:
