Hello,
My name is Jacob Williams. I have been substitute teaching for a year and a half. I am a recent graduate of the University of Akron where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Education in AYA Social Studies. I have a second major in history, as well as a minor in Sports Coaching Studies. I now have a year and a half of subbing experience under my belt and want to get into my own classroom.
I spent my time student teaching at Lake Middle High School during the fall of 2022. In that time, I learned so much from my mentor teacher, and the rest of the amazing staff in the district. I learned some of my core values there such as building rapport with students, differentiation, and communication. These skills help me as a teacher and educator to better suit my students and improve their learning and growth.
Since student teaching, I have spent a lot of time being a full time substitute teacher in two different districts. First, I spent a semester as a “Super-Sub” at Akron Public Schools where I was responsible for subbing in 52 different buildings. And more recently, I spent the 2023-2024 school year as the permanent sub at Louisville Middle School. Both of these roles have helped me get acclimated to being in the field but I am ready to get a classroom of my own.
I am looking forward to beginning my official career. I believe I have much to offer to the future of education, and the easiest way for me to do that is to get into a classroom. You can email me anytime at jaw288@uakron.edu, or call/text me at 330-957-5232. Thank you for your time.
Jake Williams
