Essential Learnings

IN 8th Grade Literature & Language Arts we will:1) Focus on increasing our Higher Order Thinking Skills.2) Transition from multi-paragraph writing to essay format in a variety of writing genres. 3) Work on our research skills to solidify an organization method comfortable for our unique styles.4) Continue to increase our grammar knowledge to improve comprehension & writing skills. 5) Make natural text-to-self & text-to-world connections.6) Continue to improve our ability to draw conclusions on what we read. 7) Identify theme in text. - Understand how death, pain, aloneness, simplicity, insanity, love, etc. give meaning in context in a variety of texts while comparing to Christian viewpoints.8) Read & understand Greek Mythology.

9) Understand different expressions of the American experience reflected in a variety of American Literature.

10) Continue to practice public speaking via class discussions as well as project presentations.
