The Bricks Model is designed for families who feel comfortable with students returning to a face-to-face, in-school environment.

It provides the opportunity for students to return to campus and interact directly, but safely, with their teachers and classmates.

Key Features

  • Learn at school

  • Students are taught by a certified teacher through face-to-face lessons

  • Students attend school during standard school hours

  • Students and teachers utilize personal protective equipment

  • Use of standardized signs and floor markings to reinforce social distancing

  • Students remain in one location throughout the day; teachers rotate for instruction

  • One time, student self-certification process will be required by parent/guardian

  • Continue receiving the services your child needs at your enrolled school in a real-time face-to-face manner

  • Ability to transition to remote instruction at the end of the quarter

WHAT TO EXPECT

Traveling To and From School

  • When possible, parents are asked to transport their child to and from school in a personal vehicle to limit the potential for virus exposure and reduce the number of students on buses

  • Bus capacity: 49 students per bus to accommodate safety guidelines (2 to a seat maximum); students will be required to wear a mask unless a student’s disability does not enable him/her to do so

  • Bus windows will be open to promote good ventilation, weather permitting

  • Buses will be cleaned between each route

Inside The Classroom

  • Mandatory wearing of a face mask or personal protective equipment (PPE) by all students and staff

  • Hand sanitizer will be available in each classroom

  • Class sizes will be reduced to extent possible for social distancing

  • Seating configuration to maximize allowable space between students

  • Nonessential furniture will be removed from the classroom

  • Students Stay— Teachers transition to minimize student movement

  • Signage posted throughout the building

    • Handwashing “how to” & “how often”

    • Scheduled bathroom breaks, supervision, & safety reminders

    • Entrance and Exit routines

    • Arrows for hallways, bathrooms, classrooms and common spaces

  • No communal use of supplies allowed

Shared Spaces

  • To prevent clusters of 50 or more persons, students will enter and exit the building through various doors

  • Limit number of students in restrooms and hallway at one time

  • Staff to supervise and monitor hallway and restroom access

  • Drinking fountains converted to refillable water stations where available; students are encouraged to bring water bottles as water fountain will not be available

In addition to daily lessons, teachers and schools can:

  • Provide real-time support, progress monitoring, and tutoring

  • Request student services

  • Provide associated services for exceptional student education
