Here at Zion-Benton Township High School District 126, students are responsible for the general care of school-used technology. Devices that are broken or fail to work properly must be reported to the school bookstore for an evaluation of the equipment which will then be assessed by our district technology support staff.
Special care must be taken to protect the device screen especially as this is the most frequently damaged part of student devices. District-issued technology is the property of the district until the student graduates from the district.
Avoid using any sharp object(s) on or near the school-issued device.
School-issued devices do not respond well to liquids. Avoid open containers at all times. The school-issued device can be cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in the openings. Do not use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean the device. The use of unapproved cleaners may remove the protective film covering the face of the device.
Do not attempt to gain access to the internal electronics or repair a school-issued device. If the device fails to work or is damaged, report the problem to the bookstore attendent or technology staff.
There is no “jailbreaking” of this device. – (altering the base operating system)
Never throw or slide a school-issued device.
Cords and cables must be inserted carefully into the device to prevent damage.
School-issued devices must remain free of any writing, drawing. Stickers are permitted if appropriate but highly discouraged due to the damage some adhevsives can cause and the time-consuming cleaning process if a student leaves the district.
School-issued devices have a unique identification number and at no time should the numbers or labels be modified or removed.
School-issued devices must never be left in an unlocked locker, in an unlocked car, or in any unsupervised area.
School-issued devices should be carefully placed in backpacks/bookbags to avoid putting any pressure on the screen.
School-issued devices must not be left in a vehicle or a location that is not temperature controlled.
School-issued devices are assigned to individual students and the responsibility for the care of the device solely rests with that individual. Students should not lend their school-issued devices to another person.
LOST OR STOLEN DEVICES
Lost or stolen devices MUST be reported to the Dean's Office first (Asst Principal for ZB East - Mr. Isaacs). A form will need to be filled out and your Dean will instruct you on what to do next.
Some useful tips-
Check the last place you remember having it, such as a classroom or shared learning space.
Check with the Bookstore, Dean's, Attendance or Technology Offices - Sometimes a student or teacher may have dropped it off after finding it.
Check with your classmates and friends, someone might have accidentally picked it up thinking it was theirs.
Check at home in unlikely places, like under your bed.
