Year 9

Learning Languages puts students’ ability to communicate at the center by making Communication the core strand, where students learn to use the language to make meaning. The two further strands, which encourage the development of linguistic and social awareness are Language Knowledge, where students study the language in order to understand how it works and Cultural Knowledge, where students learn about culture and the interrelationship between culture and language. Students at Level 4 of the curriculum, start to confidently use text to communicate appropriately on their own environment.
