ViewBoard Training Help Sheet

Following our PD day in November, we were asked by some teachers to create a one-stop help sheet for how to best use the Whiteboard app in the classroom. Check out the Google Doc to see everything you need to know about using Whiteboard. We have split the Help Sheet into a Basics section and an Advanced section. If you have ideas to add to the Doc, feel free to send them to us!

File Management in Whiteboard

If you need a refresher on how to save, access, and share files that you create in Whiteboard, take a look at the Google Doc on the side.

Toolbar Wiki

When you start using the ViewBoards, you will see a lot of icons around the screen. This wiki helps to explain what the different tools do and where they are located. Feel free to play around with tools on the Viewboard, but don't get overwhelmed by the amount of icons. We will have trainings available to help use many of the Viewboard tools.

How to Record on the Viewboard

There are a lot of teachers that are wanting to record their lessons so that they can upload them to Google Classroom for students to access if they were absent or need a refresher. The Google Doc on the side will give you a step-by-step explanation of how to record your screen while casting and while just using the Viewboard. As always, email us or set up an appointment if you have any questions.

Interactive Tools on ViewBoard

Here are some interactive websites to try out on your Viewboard. Google Earth is a great tool to start out with exploring on the Viewboard.

Great Minds Help Sheet

Casting Great Minds Lessons

We have had several discussions with teachers about the best way to use Great Minds to present lessons.  There are actually three ways to go about it, but one way is by far the best.  We have made a help sheet for your reference.

Lunch Count Template

If you want a tool for lunch count, here is a template that you can edit for your classroom.  If you are happy with this look, you can download a Whiteboard copy here by clicking the "download" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.  You can add student names by double-clicking the sticky note and writing the name with a pen. This can be done on your computer (You can use your stylus pen) or on the Viewboard if you are casting.  If you need to add more sticky notes, click on the Magic Box, then the yellow sticky note. You can change the color of the note and write directly on the note. When finished, click the "X" to close it out. The sticky notes are movable and you can place them where you want. When you save the file for the first time after adding all names, you will click on the yellow file folder, click on "Save As", then change the file name to "Lunch Count Template_YourName." This will allow you to open up the same copy every morning. Once finished, you can close out the file and click "Exit" so you are not having to move names back every time you open the file.

If you want to make your own version, follow the instructions here.

New Device One-Pager

ViewBoard Introduction - One Pager

If you are having any issues with starting your Viewboard, open the one-pager to find some helpful notes and troubleshooting.

Quick Tips:

  • Log in to your device at least once before you take it home. It will not work otherwise.

  • The monitor on your desk is your docking station. This will only work if you plug your laptop in with the USB-C cable.

  • Your Viewboard will cast whatever is on your screen. To start casting, click the VCastReceiver icon. On your laptop, open the VCastSender from your desktop. Type the code from the Viewboard into your laptop and hit cast.

  • Enable sound by selecting the Virtual Audio Cable. These directions are in the Doc.
