We are really eager to get into classrooms. To help facilitate these informal observations (not evaluations), we created a modified Pineapple Chart.
What in the world is a Pineapple Chart?
Created by Mark Barnes and Jennifer Gonzalez in 2015 , a Pineapple Chart is a system that allows teachers to invite one another into their classrooms for informal observation. On the chart, teachers “advertise” the interesting things they are doing in their classrooms, activities they think others might want to observe. The activities could be as complex as a science lab, a history simulation, or a Skype session with a school in another country. Or they could be as simple as a read-aloud or a lesson on badminton.
We believe we become better educators when we are learning from other educators. This could range from different classroom management styles, to how a teacher uses the Viewboards in their class. We want to be in your class so we can share the amazing things you are doing with other teachers, while also, hopefully, providing useful feedback that benefits you as well.
Please take a look at the attached chart and sign up to invite us into your room. We can just sit and watch or provide an extra set of hands. You decide!
