ABOUT YUWUN

People were concerned about the school's size and development when preparations for its establishment got underway in 2006. However, they were also interested in what the school's forthcoming name would be for the location known as "Wun Xia 66 ”.

When the school was first founded, the name "Wun Xiao 66" could frequently be seen on official records. The urban plan allocated this land for this purpose and number. The three letters "Wun," "Small," and "Sixty-six" represent 1)the educational land, 2) the elementary school, and 3)Tainan City's No. 66 elementary school, respectively.

Since the school's planning, various names, such as "Yuwun Elementary School," "Fudong Elementary School," "Huwei-Liao Elementary School," "Wunsheng Elementary School," and "Houjia Elementary School," have been suggested. On July 19, 1996, Mayor Hsu Tien-Tsai renamed the school "Tainan City East Yuwun Elementary School" after gathering opinions from individuals.

Yu has many associations with humanism. Although "Yu'' originally had the implication of being prosperous and bountiful, it now has a different local meaning in the Huwei-Liao rezoning area. Yu is the first letter of every road name in the area, and it has become a representative word of the local community.

Therefore, Yuwun Elementary School can also be regarded as Huweiliao's elementary school.The name of the school is not only representative but also an expectation. It is hope that every student in Yuwun Elementary School will grow up to be “a kind and compassionate person”.

民國95年設校籌備工作開始推動後，大家不僅關心學校規模及進度，也關心這塊稱為「文小六十六」的地方，將來會取什麼校名。

「文小六十六」這個名稱，在設校籌備之初，常見於正式公文書上，這是都市計畫所付予這塊土地的用途及編號。

「文」代表文教用地，「小」代表小學，「六十六」是編號，代表臺南市小學第66號校地。

學校命名從籌備開始就在大家的口耳中醞釀，有「裕文國小」、「府東國小」、「虎尾寮國小」、「文聖國小」、「後甲國小」…等，在彙集各界意見後，由許添財市長於96年7月19日定名為「臺南市東裕文國民小學」。

裕文，充滿人文之意涵。「裕」本意有富裕、充裕的解釋；在虎尾寮重劃區這個地方，「裕」則有另一種在地意涵。本地路名都以裕開頭，裕字已儼然成為本地的代表字，

所以裕文國小，也是以虎尾寮小學來看待。校名，是個代表，也是個期許，希望裕文國小的每個孩子都是個「充滿人文情懷的人」。
