Why is my student not bringing home homework?
I believe in limiting the amount of homework that needs to go home to be completed, as it is the student's responsibility to work hard the entire time they are in school. It is important that students should be able to go home, relax their brain, and spend time with friends and family at the end of the day. I do still assign work to be completed but provide more than enough time to complete it at school, and so they can ask myself, or another staff member, any question they may have.
When is homework due and what if my student didn't get their work done?
Assigned work that is due for a subject, is to be turned in to the subject inbox or Google Classroom at the start of that subject on the day it is due. If it is not turned in at that time it can be considered late.
If their work is not finished at the start of class, the student is required to notify their parent(s) about the late assignment via email and will stay in during recess until the assignment is turned in.
-- All late assignments will automatically have 10% deducted from it before being graded.
My student didn't do very well on an assignment or test?
If a student receives lower than a 70% on any assignment, they have the opportunity to redo the parts of the assignment they got wrong for half credit. For Example, if the student got a 60% and wants to redo it, they can redo part of the assignment and get up to an 80%.
To be able to redo an assignment, the student has to have the assignment signed by a parent or guardian after coming home in the student's Friday Folder, and submitted to the "REDO" box by 8:30 am Monday morning. Then sometime during the day, the student will be given a copy of the assignments with the questions they need to redo, and complete it during their time (I.e. recess, when they are done with all their work for the day, or at home). The completed redo assignment the needs to be turned into the "REDO" box by 8:15am Tuesday Morning.
Any tests that the students wish to redo, they will be able to redo before school, during recess, or after school over 2 days, and will retake the entire test.
