We love celebrating birthdays! Each birthday student will receive a non-food treat bag from me that includes a birthday pencil, eraser, bracelet, and other fun birthday items. We'll sing "Happy Birthday" and enjoy an approved treat together.

Per the Arizona Healthy Schools Act (A.R.S. ยง 15-242.01), shared classroom treats cannot contain any of the 11 prohibited dyes and additives (Red 40, Yellow 5 & 6, Blue 1 & 2, Green 3, Red 3, titanium dioxide, and others). So I can check, all food treats must be store-bought, pre-wrapped, with a visible ingredients label. Also, no homemade items for the class, please.
Non-food, school appropriate, celebration items like stickers, pencils, erasers, small toys, or a book donated to our class library are always welcome and never need approval.

Effective at the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the Arizona Healthy Schools Act A.R.S. 15-242.01, prohibits public schools participating in federally funded or assisted meal programs from serving, selling, or allowing a third party to sell ultra-processed food on the school campus during the regular school day.
