What is the Canvas of Transformation?

At Youth Unlimited, our heartbeat is fostering long-term mentoring relationships with youth across the Greater Toronto Area, through which we share the person, work, and teachings of Jesus. We invite young people to live a life focused on love and compassion towards others. We invite them to experience a life of wholistic transformation. That’s what our vision is all about: Transformed youth, transforming our city.

And what does that transformation look like?

We imagine transformation as God at work as a compassionate artist, painting on the canvas of both lives and neighbourhoods over time. We envision the colour palette having YU’s 5 Transformative Colours, from which any combination of colours can be created. As we invest in youth wholeness in this context, we believe we will continue to see this ‘Canvas of Transformation’ come to life in young people, their families, and their neighbourhoods.

In this easily navigable mobile site, we share with you the attributes of each Transformative Colour, as well as scriptures and conversational questions to consider as you mentor and walk with others.

We have also included our 'contemplative reflections', each of the 21 reflections written by YU staff members focuses on an aspect of one of our Transformative Colours – Rooted Identity, Renewed Character, Healthy Relationships, Joyful Service, and Clear Purpose. You might choose to spend time in one Colour, or wander back and forth between the Colours. Regardless, we hope that you will experience God’s transformative artistry upon the canvas of your life as you walk your chosen path.
