Period 2/6

-MARKING PERIOD AGENDA-

(All assignments will be done in class and homework may be completed in class. All homework assignments are questions on Google Classroom, and students are given one week to complete. Out of class work will only occur if students need extra time. Taking projects and supplies to Homework Club, taking projects home to complete, and using Flex time to work on art projects are all options for extra time.)

Week 1: Introduction to YSMS art class, reviewing color theory, learning how to weave, and starting to warp and weave radial looms

Week 2: Completing weaving project and removing it from the loom, having time to take photos with digital cameras, learning about photography techniques, editing photos using Befunkyphoto, & learning about printmaking types

Week 3: Creating a linocut design pencil sketch, learning how to transfer an image with pencil, transferring an image on to a linoleum block, learning how to carve and print a linoleum block with printmaking tools, & practicing printmaking techniques

Week 4: Learning about art history and how old art history facts have changed, focusing on women artists throughout history, defining still lives, sketching candy, defining contrast, & using oil pastel to complete candy project

Week 5: Creating a composition with still life objects, sketching and observing still life, learning about charcoal, practicing charcoal techniques on value scale paper, using value scale to match values from still life, & completing still life project. 

Week 6: Learning about surrealism and world history's affect on the art movement, practicing the concept of creating illusions, using pen and ink techniques, & using glue and materials to create an unplanned decalcomania. 

Week 7: Finding objects in the decalcomania and adding details, learning about Google Slides, using Google Slides to create a surreal collage, learning about illustration and storytelling through art, & planning on a storyboard in order to create a zine that tells a story.

Week 8: Folding a zine, sketching and transferring the story to the zine, learning about watercolor and watercolor pencil techniques, using watercolor and pen and ink to complete zine, choosing a dictionary page and word to illustrate and represent, & using colored pencil techniques to complete illustration.

Week 9: Designing an animal drawing using positive and negative space and contrast, learning about marker techniques, & applying marker techniques in color and black and white to create contrast.
