Kalina Stefanova who is a student at Yordan Yovkov School Varna took second place in the "Each water drop matters" contest organised by the Ministry of Environment and Water and Basin Directorate- Black Sea Region. The contest was dedicated to International Water Day 2021.
Bulgarian students from the science club carried out some STEM activities of filtering water. Their teacher Mrs Petkova measured levels of water pollution before and after the filtering. While doing the task of building filters the students had to follow the engineering design circle steps which are: ask, imagine, plan, create, test, improve, share.
The students from "Yordan Yovkov" Primary School studied the purity and type of water from different sources - spring, mineral, and sea. They used two methods - titration and TDS / ES. They made a simulation of the purification/desalination of sea water. They had fun and calculated density, hardness, and purity of the water!
