The 1: 1 educational model in Yordan Yovkov Primary School
Yordan Yovkov School Varna is an innovative school that is a pioneer in the meaningful implementation of digital technology in education. Seven teachers from the school have been certified as Google Certified Educator Level 1. In February 2021 we started working on the 1: 1 model- each student and each teacher in a class has their own Chromebook device. Students work on their devices, do not use, paper textbooks, workbooks, pens or other educational materials. They only use digital resources pre-shared by the teacher.
This changed the educational process completely. It became student-based and project-based - students became creators of the content. They started creating educational materials using different applications and platforms. The role of the teacher is more like that of a mentor who guides. In class, students work in groups on specific tasks, and assessment is not based on a specific lesson, but on the basis of the content created by them. Apart from academic knowledge students acquire key skills, knowledge and competencies for the 21st century such as teamwork, communication, empathy, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving.
Within this educational model, we have the opportunity to implement a number of activities under the Erasmus + project "Be Creative, Be Innovative". All of them are related to digitalization and the transformation of the learning process. Google for Education supports this partnership and thanks to the good cooperation we have managed to achieve key successes such as Google Workspace- officially recognized cloud platform and compatible profiles @ edu.mon.bg.
Yordan Yovkov 7th-grade students have made a teamwork presentation about Bulgarian innovative inventions of the 21st century. It turned out that Bulgarian innovators have contributed to many ICT fields.

The event supported students` career orientation and contributed to the improvement of school- business communication.

An interdisciplinary lesson under 1:1 educational model using the Google Workspace applications. It was held with the students of the 6th grade on the topic "The text - fun and useful", including the subjects Bulgarian, history, and art. In the course of the lesson, students extracted semantic and grammatical information from a text, reflected on historical images, and drew knightly weapons and royal insignia. They had to write an essay "How do I imagine myself in the Middle Ages?", and in the art class, they illustrated their texts. The illustrated works are collected in an e-book.
