Hello and welcome!
My name is Mrs. Miller and the 2025-2026 school year will be my 21st year teaching. I've been so fortunate to teach at Port Charlotte Middle School for the past sixteen years as Director of Bands. Prior to teaching at PCMS, I taught both middle and high school bands for five years in Osceola and Collier Counties, Florida. I'm looking forward to the 2025-2026school year and can't wait to see where our musical journey takes us all.
I grew up in many places as the daughter of a Navy Sailor, but once we settled down I called Syracuse, New York home for my middle school, high school and my undergraduate college years. I earned my bachelors degree in Music Education with a minor in Bass Trombone Performance from the State University of New York@ Potsdam's Crane School of Music in 2002. I immediately moved to Tallahassee, Florida and earned my Masters Degree in Music Education from The Florida State University in 2004. (Go Noles!)
I do my best to stay active as a musician in our local community ensembles. My main instrument is bass trombone, but I've been increasing my personal skills on mallet percussion to better teach my percussion students and prepare them not only for middle school, but the rigors of high school percussion. The picture to the left is a concert performance with a local community concert band with me as a featured soloist.
