On Saturday, April 11th, the Yough High School Band hosted their 3rd Annual Band on the Run 5k on the GAP Trail starting in West Newton. Congratulations to all of the runners and walkers, and thank you for supporting Yough's music program.

On April 12-16, 2026, the Yough Marching Band and Chamber Choir went to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida! The marching band performed on April 13th in the parade at Magic Kingdom and played Mr. Brightside. Special thanks to drum major Lindsay Moskyok for doing an amazing job conducting the band! The chamber choir performed on April 14th at Disney Springs. They sang the National Anthem, Dona Nobis Pacem, Carrickfergus, Water Fountain, and Inkosi Namandla. Congratulations to Kaylen Quinn on her flute solo in Carrickfergus. While the school wasn’t performing, they had tons of fun in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe! The band and choir would like to thank Mrs. Chmay, Mr. Ritz, Mr. Sutherland, our travel agent, and everyone else who helped out to make this trip possible!
Spring Band Concert

The Yough band students hosted two spring band concerts, bringing together students, families, and community members for an evening filled with beautiful musical performances and school spirit. Students put a lot of hard work and dedication into preparing for the concert, showcasing their musical growth and talent throughout the performance. The audience enjoyed the lovely spring melodies brought to the stage, highlighting the students' teamwork and passion for music. The final concert honored 6 seniors, recognizing their years of dedication and commitment to the Yough School District band program: Billy Spell, Lindsy Moskyok, Bryce Middlekauff, Cullen Cooper, Joelle McCallen, Micheal Lynn. Band Director Mrs. Chmay quoted “overall, I think it was a very good performance, I think we played very well, and musically.” The concert was a very memorable celebration for students' hard work, musical talent, and their dedication to the Yough music program.
Jazz Festival

On March 27, 2026, the annual Yough Jazz Festival took place! Bands who attended include: Yough Intermediate Middle School, Wendover Middle School, Franklin Regional Middle School, Greater Latrobe High School, Steel City Jazz Band, Yough Alumni Band, Scottdale Community Band, Hempfield High School, Norwin High School, Franklin Regional High School, Yough High School, and Seton Hill University. The songs that Yough played were Cold Duck Time, The Girl from Ipanema, and Wise Up. Congratulations to all of the soloists: Cullen Cooper on trombone, Brody Spell on Trombone, Emma Smith on vocals, Gillian Baloga on tenor saxophone, Ethan Baker on baritone saxophone, and Vinny Toscano on guitar. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Chmay and everybody else who helped organize this.
