Ms. Kegg
Written by Bianca Pratt
This year, Yough welcomes a familiar face to the office, Miss Kegg, our new school secretary, who is also a Yough graduate! She shares that she is excited to be a part of the Yough community. She is also excited to get to know all of the students and staff here. Though she admits it feels “a little weird” to be in a new role, she never truly left, as she has continued to work as the school’s color guard coach. Her favorite aspect of coaching color guard is that she gets to stay connected to an activity she has always loved, while passing on that passion and watching her students grow. Outside of coaching, Miss Kegg enjoys reading, running, and baking, especially sourdough bread! We’re so happy to have you here, Miss Kegg, and make sure to stop by the office and say hello to her!
Mr. Diso
Written by Emily Kovac
As we start the school year at Yough Senior High, we have a student teacher who is under the guidance of Mr. Zufall. His name is Mr. Diso, and Emily Kovac had the opportunity to interview him so the students of Yough could get to know more about him. Her first question was, ”What inspired you to become a teacher?” He answered, “I had a really good teacher in high school, and the way he taught and cared for his students inspired me to become a teacher.” She next asked, “What college are you currently attending?” Mr. Diso responded, “I’m currently at Saint Vincent. I did my undergraduate work at Pitt Johnstown. My degree was a Bachelor of Arts and History, and I had also done some education classes while there. I then transferred to Saint Vincent, where I will graduate with a degree in mastery of education. “ Kovac then asked, “What made you specifically choose teaching history?” He responded,” I have always had a love of history. In school, history was always the subject that caught my attention, and I have a good memory for remembering dates for historical events.” She asked, “What is your favorite part about student-teaching here at Yough?” “My favorite part is the interactions with the students. I was formerly at Penn Trafford Middle School, and the difference in interactions between middle school and high school students has been eye-opening for me. I love getting to help mold the decisions my juniors or seniors might be making while I am student-teaching here.” Kovac then questioned, “Do you have any advice for students who might be interested in becoming a teacher?” Mr. Diso answered, “You have to know that you want to do this for the rest of your life, and you have to like interacting with kids.” Her last question was, “Are there any fun facts about yourself that you would like to share with the Yough community?” He answered by saying he played baseball his whole life and that he is very family-oriented. We hope that you will enjoy your time here at Yough, and we wish you the best of luck for your future!
