The Yough boys’ soccer team, once again, impressed everyone with a successful and admirable season this year. Having won eleven games out of fourteen in conference and having a 14-5 overall record, the boys are continuing their streak of achievement and are looking to carry this success into their postseason. Under the leadership of Coach Ron Dushack, the team showed remarkable teamwork and determination. Noah Jurcevich, a junior on the team, came back from a major injury, and, as another teammate put it, “is still one of the most influential players on the team and a huge contributor to our success this season.” The seniors parting from the soccer team this year are Jacob Booher, Skylar Woloshun, Jayden Goulding, Ty McLeland, Brandon Trevilion, Tadhgan Small, Blake Sullivan, Dyllan Bennett and Wyatt Miller. Each of the nine helped bring the team together and towards their success. Many, having been a part of the team since freshman year, agree that soccer helped them gain confidence and friends. A junior on the team added, “Wyatt is the best motivator on the team. He is always encouraging and supportive.” Without a doubt, this year's seniors leave behind a strong legacy for next year to build on! Congratulations, cougars, and good luck with the playoffs!
Cheer
Written by Mary Koval
Every year, the Yough Cheer team is under the spotlight of the Friday Night Lights. Mary Koval interviewed a few cheerleaders and asked them how cheer has affected their high school experience. Sophomore, Avery Wheaton stated, “Cheerleading has made my high school experience more fun and involving, and I’ve made new friends and connections along the way.” When asked about whether questioning students should join the team, she said, “I would say to join and that it’s really fun.” Another girl from the cheer team, senior Lanae Luciani, said, “Cheerleading has made high school more positive because I get in the school spirit and I’m more involved, and I'd say to definitely join, and it’s rewarding.” Lastly, freshman Lily Smith stated, “Cheerleading makes me busier. It also gives me more opportunities, and it has made my freshman experience better.” This year's cheerleading seniors are cheer captain Mady Govi, Lanae Luciani, and Lexis Smith. As we can tell, if you want to join the cheer team, it will be a very positive and fun experience, and many would encourage you to join if you're willing.

The Yough Clay Target Team has had a very successful fall season. They hosted the 3rd annual Fall Brawl at Ruffsdale Gun Club on Saturday, October 18th. Many different schools attended, with a total of 138 kids and 35 coaches/alumni. Yough placed second overall and was just 5 points away from first place. Despite not winning first at the tournament, they secured first place in our conference for the fall season with a score of 8,171.00. Great job to all of the athletes for their hard work and dedication, and thank you to all of the coaches and staff for making this team possible. The team is also parting with two seniors at the end of the spring season, Leah Boris and Aaron Lyons. We hope their last season will be just as successful as this one, and we wish them the best with their future endeavors.
